Business, Management and Employment Law

What I do for you is provide very personalized services. Similar to the magical words associated with real estate value -- location, location, and location -- the magical words in my business are --  communication, communication, and communication.

If I am going to be your lawyer for your business you will have to allow me frequent contact with or access to you. We will do a lot of communicating about you, your product, your service, your customers, your employees, your marketing plan, your finances, your setbacks, your aspirations, and your family. I need to know who you are, maybe better than you know yourself, for me to be effective and make a difference in your business.

Our relationship will be built upon trust and confidence. What you say to me stays with me. What we discuss and debate remains between us. The attorney client privilege that protects our communications is sacred to me.

If you work with me you will have to agree that unethical behavior is unacceptable. You will care about the welfare of your employees and you will recognize the dignity of each person who is employed by your business, and the dependence of that person upon the success of your business. You will abide by the law and you will not expect me to devise some sort of scheming mechanism to allow you to evade the effect of laws.

You have a right to make a profit in your business. You have a right to become rich. You also have obligations and responsibilities. Working together, we will assure that you both experience the joys of your success and feel the satisfaction of being attentive to your obligations and responsibilities to others.

The Business of Business

Working with me you will discover that contact and communication will be the shining centerpieces of our professional relationship. We have to experience frequent contact and actually enjoy being together in order to maximize the potential benefits of our attorney-client relationship. Life should be enjoyable and there is no reason to make our relationship an exception.

What we discuss will be related to the business of business: management, employment, and labor law. I will keep you advised about developments in court cases, local government, Congress, and the state legislature that might impact your business.

I read a large volume of business news publications weekly, and the information I absorb will be refined, simplified, made practical, and shared by me with you on a regular basis.

I occasionally prepare "bulletins" or "client alerts" to keep you informed, and I will transmit them to you either via email or the regular postal system.

I sponsor seasonal workshops or retreats for business executives at nearby convenient locations and you will be offered the opportunity to attend and participate in the event with a VIP status accorded to you as a favored client.

I will review and negotiate contracts for you with customers, vendors, and purchasers of your services or products, when appropriate. If you have an exceptional need for very specialized legal services, I will find the attorney who has the necessary expertise and monitor his or her work and fees to assure that you are receiving what you need and paying only a fair price for the services rendered.

If you have any problems with an insurance company, I will handle the matter for you and get the dispute resolved in a fair but favorable manner for you.

My business focuses on the following topics related to the workplace: privacy issues, alcohol and drug abuse, absenteeism, sexual harassment, medical leave, accommodating the disabled, job descriptions, hiring and firing, discipline, salary and benefits, fair labor standards, financial data analysis, marketing and strategic planning, new services or product development, patents and trademarks, and your ownership transition goals.

I very much enjoy what I do as an attorney. Helping people achieve their goals in business and life provides me with great satisfaction. Being challenged by you and your business is an opportunity I hope you allow me to experience. I know we can work together to help you accomplish your goals and achieve the level of success that you expect to derive from the operation of your business.
